Material and Memory: A design exhibition by Northumbria University
See a brand-new exhibition at Brinkburn Priory and Manor House. Material and Memory is the latest collaboration between English Heritage and Northumbria University. It features works by around 20 creators from the School of Design, Arts and Creative Industries and the Department of Architecture and Built Environment.

The inspiration
The work of each artist is inspired by the site, its stories and the fabric of the buildings, with each creator offering a unique perspective linked to their specific practice.
What’s on display
The exhibition includes works in mixed media, from etchings to textile prints, from photo montages to wooden furniture, and even a brand new board game, Dissolution. All the pieces are displayed in the sparse interior of the 19th century manor house at Brinkburn, which stands next to the beautifully restored Priory Church.
