View of stone wall remains for Chysauster Ancient Village

In 2016, The English Heritage Trust commissioned new research on Chysauster Ancient Village, including a new analytical earthwork survey, geophysical surveys, 3D modelling and a re-examination of archive material from the 1930s excavations.

In an in-depth tour, led by our Archaeological Investigator from Historic England, learn more about the recent research work undertaken and discuss the results of the new research.  Also, find out more about the techniques used by archaeologists to study Chysauster – including drone based photogrammetry, geophysical and earthwork surveys and archive research.

This event has been graded as moderate access as the tour will require some walking and up to two hours of being stood up with limited rest stops.  Please note that the ground will be uneven in places with steps and gradients.  Not recommended for people with limited mobility.
