SUITABLE FORAdults
Join us for a hard hat guided tour of the scaffolding which currently surrounds Belsay Hall. See a once in a lifetime view of the hall and the crucial conservation repair work that is being undertaken to reroof this historic building as part of the Belsay Awakes project. You’ll need a head for heights, as the viewing platform is 15m above the gardens! Please be aware to access the top of the scaffolding, you'll need to climb 10 flights of stairs (84 stairs in total). The viewing platform extends over the roof giving incredible views not only of the hall, but across the gardens and wider estate.
The scaffolding will be inaccessible during adverse weather conditions, but an alternative tour will be given if these circumstances arise.
Over 12 years old only. Hard hat and Hi-Vis PPE must be worn and are provided at site.
Scaffolding tours will be held every Sunday, Monday and Thursday until Thursday 26th August - with the exception of Mon 20th June, Mon 18th July and Mon 8th August when Behind the Closed Doors tours will take place instead.
