Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens
SUITABLE FORAdults
Ever wondered what’s behind the closed doors in Belsay Hall? We’re running some ‘sneak peeks’ into the servant’s quarters to show you the Hall’s unusual collection of architrave (building materials and objects) and how they’ve been cared for as part of the Belsay Awakes project. You’ll also see the historic drainage systems that have caused some of the damp problems the building has been prone to. This area is a construction zone as part of the reroofing works, and extends over several floors up numerous staircases. It’s a unique opportunity to see some key heritage conservation work.
This tour is only suitable for those over 12 years old. Hard hat and Hi-Vis PPE will be provided at Belsay Hall and must be worn.
Limited spaces are available, so pre-booking is required. Please contact Belsay belsay.hall@english-heritage.org.uk reserve your space.
