Eltham Palace and GardensSUITABLE FOR
This Pride month, join us for Queer Walls - an evening of art deco decadence and 1930s entertainment at Eltham Palace.
Enjoy an intimate, after-hours look into the palace’s striking interiors and award-winning grounds as you are entertained by a range of artistic and creative responses to the palace's queer stories.
Wet your whistle on arrival - with a complimentary cocktail - created by mixologists - Ben’s House. Ben's been inspired to concoct a collection of bespoke cocktails based on stories from the palace, and each will be made with fresh ingredients from the gardens. Cocktails will be available all night.
Meet actors playing John Seely and Paul Paget, the palace's designers, who were partners in life and in business. They'll tell you what life was like to be queer in the first half of the 20th century and share stories of lesbians, gay men, bisexuality, the pioneering of transgender operations and the general queerness of the time.
Watch a Noel Coward cabaret act and listen to our pianist performing on a Bechstein piano provided by Jacques Samuel Pianos. Put your best foot forward with our swing dance lessons in the Great Hall as Nancy Hitzig teaches you how to dance like a 1930s star and listen to Gin and Harmonics, an all-female LGBTQ choir, perform a cappella songs in the entrance hall.
Or, simply sit back with a cocktail in the beautiful palace gardens and take in the fantastic views as the sun sets over the city.
