Join us at Kenwood on Saturday 6 December for a special event celebrating the life of Dido Elizabeth Belle and her marriage to John Danvier on 5 December 1793. The event includes a short film screening of the award-winning 'I, Dido.'
Dido Elizabeth Belle was raised as part of an aristocratic family in Georgian Britain at Kenwood. She was the illegitimate daughter of a young black woman named Maria Bell and a Royal Naval officer, Sir John Lindsay.
The screening will be followed by a live encounter with Dido (played by Chanté Faucher) as she revisits the haunts she knew so well and recalls details of her life at Kenwood.
The day is timed to celebrate Dido’s marriage to John Davinier on 5th December 1793 and is seated in the Lecture Theatre at Kenwood House.
There are two identical sessions for one hour at 11am and 2pm.
