Whitby Walking Tour

DATE

Thu 7 Jul 22

TIME

10am - 12pm

LOCATION

Whitby Abbey

SUITABLE FOR

Adults

Join Yorkshire Blue Badge Guide Sarah Milne-Day on a tour of the iconic town of Whitby. Starting at the spectacular Gothic ruined abbey, we will head down the famous 199 steps into the picturesque town and harbour to discover all about the history, industry and characters hidden in the winding alleys that make this such a fascinating place. In the 125th anniversary year of the publication of Dracula, we will also discover what inspired Bram Stoker to write and set his classic story here.

On arrival, please meet your guide at the visitor centre, where the tour will begin. This event is graded as challenging access. This is a walking tour with very few stops and opportunities to sit down. The tour will take you down the 199 steps and into the town. Please dress for the weather, including good walking shoes. Refreshments will not be served at this event, though you are welcome to bring your own with you.
