Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings are bringing you a summer of fun and engagement as we promote reading, storytelling and creativity. These are all free drop-in events aimed at ages from 3 to 12 years old. There is no booking required.

Summer Stories from the Shire

Join artist Sarah Evans and story-teller Jake Evans for free drop-in sessions for the family. Art activities are interspersed with storytelling based on the fantastic mural on the terrace designed by Sarah Evans.

Book Treasure Hunts (on Wed 29 Jul, Wed 5, 12 and 19 Aug)

To celebrate the National Year of Reading, Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings have teamed up with Debbie Robinson of Words and Me Children’s Books to create a Book Treasure Hunt. Explore the historic building and find a book to read and share.

Summer of Bunting

Make your own bunting to decorate the Dye House, or to take home with you. Design your own story on the fabric bunting by using fabric paints, felt templates, lettering and printing, or have a go at bunting hands!

The Mill Exhibition, shop and Flaxmill Café are open seven days a week throughout the summer. Admission charges apply for the exhibition and guided tours for non-members. Members receive free entry, but advance booking is recommended for tours.
