Mon 2 SepTIME
8pm to 10.30pm
Join us for a unique opportunity to experience Stonehenge after dark from within the stone circle. On 2 September, Chartered Natural Scientist and specialist photographerer, Robert Harvey, will give an illustrated talk about astrophotography and astroarchaeology, showing some of the incredible photographs he has taken of ancient monuments under the night skies and explaining why the alignment with the sun and possibly the moon is so important at Stonehenge.
Robert will then lead you down to the monument field where, under his expert guidance, you can look up at the night sky from within the inner circle of Stonehenge. Here you can connect with Stonehenge in a unique way, reflecting on what it might have been like for people living at the time of Stonehenge, to look up at the night sky from within the stone circle
If you are interested in a small-group astrophotography workshop where you can take your own pictures of the night sky over Stonehenge, please have a look at our event on 25 September, also led by Robert.
8pm – 9pm: Talk
9.30pm – 10.30pm: Stone Circle Access
This event is suitable for all.
Should the skies by overcast, we will light the stones by torchlight which will still make for a dramatic experience. If it is raining we will increase the classroom based element of the course.
If you can’t join us, you can still see the night sky above Stonehenge as it would appear on a really clear night at www.stonehengeskyscape.co.uk.
