Would you like to use your passion for delivering high quality visitor experiences and be at the heart of telling English Heritage's story? If so, then join our Historic Properties team at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens and play your part in helping visitors experience more of England's captivating past and preserve it for generations to come.
This is an opportunity for you to work at a large property with a busy tearoom, a vast events programme. Belsay has something for everyone, a Greek-revival mansion, Medieval castle and Grade I listed quarry garden.
You will be responsible for delivering the food offer and production of homemade seasonal menus, as well as collaborating with the Property Manager and Catering Operations Manager in planning our catering requirements. Whether it's a delicious meal, a sandwich or a traditional cream tea, you'll make sure that everything looks good enough to eat! Great food doesn't just appear and outstanding service doesn't happen by accident. This role consists of daytime work with only very occasional evening shifts, there are no split shifts
You will enjoy being an inspiration to others, leading by example and having the confidence and ability to develop and coach a team made up of a mixture of full time and seasonal staff. It is therefore essential that you have a strong operational background in catering and can demonstrate an ability to effectively manage a small but busy team. You will intuitively understand how to deliver an exceptional customer service and how catering can fit into a broad visitor attraction experience. With good commercial skills you will be able spot opportunities to deliver increased value and margins whilst managing costs.
This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to take the next step in managing a Catering Operation and leading a Catering Team.
By joining us you'll enjoy the rewards of a great team environment and an inspiring location, helping to make our site a wonderful place to visit and work. You'll also be joining our charity which through our 400 historic monuments, buildings and sites, brings the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year. A competitive benefits package is on offer including a generous pension, 25 days leave a year and free entry to all English Heritage properties for you, another adult and up to 6 children (under the age of 19).
