LEADER funding for Bolsover Castle

Bolsover Castle is undergoing exciting changes as a result of funding from LEADER who provide grants to develop the rural economy.

A new family friendly exhibition opened in the stables in April, which gives visitors the opportunity to dress in cavalier clothes, sit in a copy of a 17th-century saddle and experience the atmosphere of a banquet held in 1634. A giant zoetrope forms the centrepiece of the exhibition and brings to life illustrations of the horses that once trained in the great riding house.

Further funding from LEADER will go towards a new film due to open in the stables in 2012. The dramatic and beautiful film will show horses performing manege, a precursor to the modern sport of classical dressage.
