Investment Funding Priorities for the North East 2011-12

English Heritage runs a number of grant schemes to assist with the cost of caring for all sorts of buildings, monuments and landscapes. There is a high demand for our grants, which means we are not always able to offer a grant to every project. Applications for funding are therefore assessed against both our national and local grant priorities.

This document presents English Heritage's key investment priorities for 201-12. For more information about English Heritage funding.

North East Historic Environment Forum

English Heritage supports the work of the North East Historic Environment Forum (NEHEF), a group of key heritage organisations who work together voluntarily in partnership. During 2011, NEHEF has hosted a number of History in the Making workshops with representatives from the heritage sector and senior elected members from local authorities to explore key issues facing the heritage sector. Feedback from these events is presented in the conference report.

A key challenge identified was how to resource local heritage groups. The NEHEF therefore commissioned a project to explore how many local heritage venues (especially community-run venues) had spaces that could be hired. The end product was a directory that can be used to market these venues to help generate income to support them.

If you need to hire a room for a meeting or conference and would like a unique venue for your event whilst supporting local heritage groups, then take a look at the Heritage Rooms for Hire Directory.
