Battle Abbey

There is at least one date in British history that just about everyone remembers from their school days : 1066 and the Battle of Hastings. October 14th of that year saw the last successful invasion of Britain and was the day that changed British history forever. It was on this day that King Harold fell defending his Saxon nation against the Norman invaders led by William the Conqueror.
