Bolsover Castle

Notice: 2012 will be the final year that Bolsover Castle will be able to hold a wedding ceremony and evening reception. We have some exciting new plans for the stables and the riding house in 2013, so book a 2012 date now to avoid disappointment. You will still be able to have a stunning ceremony and a drinks reception for up to 50 people in the Little Castle and the terrace in 2013, but no evening dinners.

Commanding a spectacular hilltop location in Derbyshire, this enchanting castle with romantic picture-book looks is a magical place to hold special events.

Beautiful open courtyards and a walled garden sit between stunning ruins and impressive 17th century buildings, offering a versatile combination of spaces, including three indoor and two outdoor areas licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

Begun by Sir Charles Cavendish in 1612, Bolsover Castle was built not for defence, but as an elegant retreat, reminiscent of an age of chivalry and romance. The 17th century mansion was later extended by his son, William, a dashing cavalier, who indulged in a passion for training horses and hosted numerous society gatherings.
