English Heritage has teamed up with the Historical Writers Association to offer our visitors a unique opportunity to 'meet the author' in a series of special events hosted at a range of our properties across the country.
Whether you are interested in a particular subject, period of history or author, there is an event for everyone, and for those of you who fancy yourselves as a budding historical writer we will also be running a variety of practical workshops that are sure to inspire.
Writer and broadcaster, Paul Blezard (of the Hay, Oxford and Dubai literary festivals), will be chairing the debate between authors Fiona Mountain & JD Davies.
Meet Fiona Mountain: Fiona Mountain's first novel 'Isabella', tells the haunting love story of Bounty mutineer Fletcher Christian and his cousin, Isabella Curwen. 'Rebel Heiress' is based on the life of seventeenth century lepidopterist Eleanor Glanville. Fiona's next book, 'Cavalier Queen' is partly set at Dover Castle.
Meet JD Davies: J D Davies is the author of 'The Journals of Matthew Quinton', an acclaimed series of novels set against the backdrop of the Restoration Navy, the Anglo-Dutch wars and the legacies of the British civil wars. He is also an award-winning historian of the period, having won the 2009 Samuel Pepys Prize for his non-fiction book Pepys's Navy: Ships, Men and Warfare 1649-89.
