English Heritage has teamed up with the Historical Writers Association to offer our visitors a unique opportunity to 'meet the author' in a series of special events hosted at a range of our properties across the country. Whether you are interested in a particular subject, period of history or author there is an event for everyone.
Fiona Mountain will be in conversation with writer and broadcaster Paul Blezard (of the Hay, Oxford and Dubai literary festivals) discussing -
- The crucial role that the castle played in the Civil War and the story of Queen Hernrietta Maria and Henry Jermyn, on which Fiona's new novel 'Cavalier Queen' is based.
- Who was Henry Jermyn - introduction to the book and the wonderful story of these two people.
- The Civil War in Cornwall
- The challenges of writing a novel based on the 'messy history' of the Civil War.
After the conversation there will be a Q&A session and book signing.
About Fiona Mountain: Fiona Mountain's first novel, 'Isabella', tells the haunting love story of Bounty mutineer Fletcher Christian and his cousin, Isabella Curwen. 'Rebel Heiress' is based on the life of seventeenth century lepidopterist Eleanor Glanville. Fiona's next book, 'Cavalier Queen' is partly set at Dover Castle.
