Plucking, prestige and pie! Noble estates like Kenilworth weren’t just power bases, but also living larders for those who lived there. Game was one of the most prestigious products, served roasted, potted, and in ornate and expensive pies. This three-hour workshop includes an overview of the use of game in the Tudor period, along with a brief introduction to Tudor cookery in general. Participants will then make a hand-raised game pie according to a Tudor recipe, which they can then take home to cook. Samples of a pie prepared earlier and a chance to ask questions will end the day.
