A school visit to Stonehenge is a unique experience and we offer both free self-led visits as well as visits led by our experts.
The most outstanding prehistoric monument in the British Isles, Stonehenge is an internationally renowned World Heritage Site and one of the richest archaeological landscapes in Europe.
Ways to Learn at Stonehenge
Free Self-led Visits
We offer free entry to qualifying learning groups. Book a free education visit and lead your own visit in your own way. We have plenty of online resources available to download and use in the classroom before, during and after your visit - see our resources section below.
You can now explore Stonehenge in a completely different way than ever before with our brand new visitor centre and we're now taking bookings for you and your class to take a new look at Stonehenge. To book give our bookings team a call on 0870 333 0606.
Expert-led Discovery Visits
Let us help you inspire your students with our hands-on Discovery Visits, led by one of our experts and great value for up to 30 students. There are two Discovery Visits to choose from:
Facilities for Learning Groups
- Explorer backpacks full of hands-on activities for discovering the wider landscape are free and can be booked in advance of your visit.
- Our education room is available for either a morning or afternoon slot. This space has its own toilet facilities, bag storage and an interactive whiteboard, please note this room is mainly used for our expect-led sessions.
- Plenty of space for picnics.
- Packed lunches are available to order in advance at £3.95 per child with a free staff lunch with every 10 packed lunches ordered. Please contact the Booking Team for more information.
- Free coach parking.
Opening Times for Learning Groups
Open all year with the exception of 24-25 December. Booking for learning groups is essential.
