Cromwell's Castle
Cromwell's Castle

The castle stands guarding the lovely anchorage between Bryher and Tresco and is one of the few surviving Cromwellian fortifications in Britain.

The ruins of a mid 16t -century coastal artillery fort, later garrisoned - hence the name - by Civil War Royalists.

You can enjoy a two-hour walk alongside the ramparts of these defensive walls and earthworks, dating from the 16th to 18th centuries.

Innisidgen Lower and Upper Burial Chambers

Two Bronze Age communal burial cairns of Scillonian type, with fine views. The upper cairn is the best preserved on the islands.

Pirates Invade!
Venue: Dartmouth Castle, Devon

Arr me hearties! Pirates are invading Dartmouth Castle! Come visit if you dare and meet the crew of the famous pirate ship' La Grande Derrier'. Marvel at demonstrations of musketry and cutlass work and listen to far fetched and fantastical pirate tales.

Spain Attacks!
Venue: Pendennis Castle, Cornwall

1593: Arwenack in Falmouth, home of Sir John Killigrew, is attacked and burnt by Spanish Raiders. Will Pendennis Castle be next? Meet the Garrison and Sir John as they await the attack, and watch the gun crews practice with the mighty cannon of Pendennis.
