STAGE 2: How Do I Submit a Proposal?

Having made certain that your idea for a blue plaque meets the basic criteria (see Stage 1) and having consulted the full criteria, a formal proposal may be submitted to the Blue Plaques Team.

A proposal should include:

  •  the name of the person, or historical event or site, you are proposing for a plaque
  •  the birth and death dates of the person
  •  reasons why the nominated person, or historical event or site, deserves a blue plaque
  • information about the person's life and achievements
  • a list of the London addresses associated with the subject being proposed, with dates of occupation if known.  At least one of these buildings must remain standing and should be largely unaltered from the period in which the nominated figure knew it.
  • a recent photograph of the nominated address, where possible

Applications can be sent either by letter or by email.
