The provision of advice and guidance to individuals, groups and organisations hoping to put up commemorative plaques is central to the role of English Heritage’s Blue Plaques Team, which deals with hundreds of such enquiries each year.
Drawing upon many years of experience, the team is able to provide information regarding areas such as funding, selection criteria, historical research, gaining consents for plaques, plaque design, manufacture, installation and unveiling ceremonies.
If you would like advice on your scheme or on how to take forward an idea for a plaque, please contact the Blue Plaques Team by email via the link above.
In spring 2010, guidance and advice was published in the form of a booklet covering all aspects of work on commemorative plaques. It is available both online and in hard copy. For more information on this, or to request a copy, please contact the Blue Plaques Team.
