What We Offer
Our prehistoric sites, castles, abbeys and country houses can all be used to bring history alive, spark a lifetime interest in the environment, and teach just about everything. We have a number of different ways to learn on-site for pre-booked learning groups, including FREE SELF-LED visits and EXPERT-LED Discovery Visits at a number of sites across the country.
FREE SELF-LED visits must be booked at least 7 days in advance, and EXPERT-LED Discovery Visits at least 14 days in advance.
Expert Led Discovery Visits
Our award winning expert-led Discovery Visits are interactive, hands-on and immersive. Best of all, we lead them for you. At just £100 per session per class at selected sites, these visits are delivered by our site staff and volunteers with knowledge and expertise across the curriculum, and have been specifically designed to meet the needs of different groups across the key stages.
Search the list of places that offer Discovery Visits to find your preferred location. Please book your visit at least 14 days in advance.
Lead your own visit, in your own way for free! We offer FREE ENTRY to pre-booked schools and other learning groups at any of the historic places in our care. Search 400+ places across the country and get in touch with our booking team who can advise you on suitable times to bring a learning group and what to expect from a free visit.
Please book your visit at least 7 days in advance.
Free planning visits
Why not take advantage of your free site visit to help you plan ahead before you bring your class? Once you have chosen your place and your booking is confirmed we offer a familiarisation visit to help you prepare for the day. We send you a permit along with your booking confirmation that gives you FREE ENTRY to your destination of choice.
Your permit also gives you a 20% discount on the official English Heritage guidebook for your place of choice.
