English Heritage holds both an outstanding range of historic collections; from paintings and archaeological artefacts relating to its sites to the National Monuments Record (NMR), a public archive covering the historic environment of England. In this section you can find out about the material held by the NMR, including photographs and other records, much of it available online. You can also explore the history and significance of the sites in the care of English Heritage in a new section called Portico. This section will be developed over the next five years to include all 400 or so sites.
