The Library at The English Heritage Archive

The Library, based at our Swindon office, holds over 60,000 book titles, journals and reports.

It includes extensive collections on archaeology and architecture, and smaller sections on topics such as maritime studies, industrial archaeology, archive preservation and management, aerial photography and place-name studies.

Around 1000 new titles are added each year and we also have around 400 current journal subscriptions.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the library and use it on a reference-only basis.

The collection's strength lies in its long runs of national and county periodicals, and its bias towards English site-based publications.

The collection covers general archaeology as well as focusing on particular periods of time and aspects of the subject.
