If your organisation is not-for-profit you may be able to apply for funding under this scheme.
Activities must further the objectives of English Heritage in promoting the conservation, understanding and enjoyment of the historic environment.
In the 2010 Comprehensive Spending Review, the Government made a 32% cut to English Heritage's funding for the period 2011-15. This means that we need to make significant cuts to many activities and also to make savings through other efficiencies. Whilst we will honour all existing grant commitments, we will have to reduce the budget available for new offers of grant by around one third.
We will be announcing in 2011 what our long-term strategy for grants will be. For now, we are refocusing our support for building and maintaining voluntary sector capacity on the sustainable management and development of the historic environment. We aim to ensure that those eligible activities for which there is a lack of alternative sources of funding become our highest priorities for support.
We will give priority to projects which meet one or more of the following objectives:
- projects which build up the capacity and commitment of local communities to champion the conservation and enhancement of their own local historic environments;
- projects which promote best-practice standards and skills for the conservation, documentation, interpretation and sustainable management of the resources of England's historic environment;
- projects directed towards meeting regional based information needs.
