Heritage science research uses a wide range of scientific methods to improve our ability to find, understand and preserve the material remains of our past. Choices about what to protect and preserve for future generations depend on a good understanding of the past. Improved understanding increases public awareness, interest and enjoyment; and we cannot understand or protect things if we don’t know that they are there.
