The impressive ruins of an abbey of Premonstratensian 'white canons', on the Kent-Sussex border. They include much of the 13th to 15th-century church, the chapter house, and a picturesque 14th-century gatehouse.Now set in a landscape designed by Humphry Repton, the famous landscape gardener, who also planned the grounds of Kenwood House in London. Rooms in the 'Georgian Gothick' dower house are also open to visitors.

Access to abbey and grounds: One step into shop; alternative side gate into grounds has no steps. Abbey mostly accessible except Dower House. Grounds accessible on fairly smooth grass and loose gravel, avoiding slopes; pushers needed. Some benches provided. NB Unfenced sump in grounds.
Parking:
25m from entrance via gravel, slopes and rough grass.

Group Discount:
15% discount for groups of 11 or more visitors paying together. Free entry for coach driver and tour leader.
