Artists 'SCORE' in Herefordshire

Derek Wilding, a participant in the art activities commented, "I feel I have really achieved something." © Derek Wilding 2009 An exhibition by a group of artists with learning disabilities has been so admired that it is to go on a tour of the county.

The artists from 'SCORE' - a project which helps people with learning disabilities to live independent, fulfilling and purposeful lives - have been working with English Heritage to produce an exhibition of artwork and photography inspired by Goodrich Castle through the seasons.

The exhibition was first displayed at the castle last September, but the standard of work was so high, popular demand has meant it is now to tour Herefordshire starting with The Bromyard Centre, Bromyard : Tuesday 10th  February - Thursday 26th February.

Suzanne Carter, Outreach Manager for English Heritage said:
"We have thoroughly enjoyed working with SCORE and hope that many people will come to see the beautiful artwork created by its members." 

Greeting cards of some of the paintings are available to buy from SCORE. The money raised through the sale of the cards will support further art activities in heritage settings for the group.

SCORE , part of  Tact UK Ltd, helps individuals with significant learning disabilities to achieve their potential, believe in themselves and feel a sense of belonging through active participation in a wide range of activities including sport, the arts, leisure, training, voluntary work, employment and social enterprise within their communities.
