Weird, Wonderful and Deliciously Gothic!

Think your job is awful? Think again! At the Days of Victorian Gothic event discover some grisly jobs from vile Victorian times, from surgeon and body snatcher to hangman and be thankful that it’s not you in for the chop! You will love exploring the gothic splendour of the Abbey at this creepy time of year, which is sure to get imaginations running wild.
  
With a rare chance to visit the floodlit remains of Whitby Abbey under cover of darkness, the Nights of Victorian Gothic event promises to be a spine chilling experience. With costumed performers and demonstrations from Victorian Science to funerals, from the surgeon to the hangman, there will be a variety of Victorian characters to meet. Witness live action storytelling, rifle firing, and even a dashing highwayman which brings the stories to life. Plus, a special night time reinactment of a full Victorian gothic funeral procession, complete with horse drawn carriage.
 
Parental guidance is recommended for very young children due to the subject matter of some performances.
