New Campaign Launched

English Heritage - together with the National Trust, Historic Houses Association and other heritage organisations – is supporting the History Matters: Pass it On campaign.

We all believe that history matters, and that a society out of touch with its past cannot have confidence in its future. History defines, educates and inspires us and a better understanding of our shared history helps us to solve the problems we face as a nation. Our heritage – our historic buildings, landscapes, archaeology and gardens, and the art, books and machines that they contain – is a set of essential landmarks to guide our journey from the past to the future.

We are therefore urging our members and visitors to declare your support for our heritage by visiting one of our properties or events, picking up and wearing a History Matters badge and filling out a postcard telling us what aspects of our heritage you think are important and why. The results will then be gathered together and published.
