Pass the Royalists manning the gatehouse and Castle walls to see what life was like during the siege of Carlisle Castle during the English Civil War. Soldiers continue to drill in readiness for an attack, cooks prepare meagre rations and the city’s craftsmen – the blacksmiths, carpenters, musicians, barber surgeon and cloth workers - keep the army going. Try out recipes, learn about the life of a soldier on the march.
