Cambridge Lodge
Audley End, Essex
Sleeps 4+cot

This fascinating house was built in 1842 as the principal gatehouse to Audley End. The ornate surround to the front door welcomes visitors and the large rounded bay windows with leaded panes add to the generous proportions of the house. There are wonderful views over the beautifully kept lawns to the River Cam which is dammed to form a lake as it flows through the grounds.
Cambridge Lodge is a two storey detached cottage. On the ground floor there is a sitting room which overlooks the grounds of Audley End House, a fully equipped kitchen and a separate dining room.
The first floor has one double and one twin bedroom and a bathroom with a shower cubicle and a free standing bath.
The cottage has its own private outdoor area to the rear, but the real charm here is the ability to sit at the front of the property and enjoy the beautiful grounds of Audley End House. Guests are free to wander the extensive and impressive grounds until dusk each day to experience Robert Adam's ornamental garden buildings, the delightful 18th-century parkland and a thriving walled Victorian garden in peace and serenity.
New for 2008 is the opening of the Victorian Service Wing showing a world of hierarchy, discipline, long hours and hard labour. At special times throughout the year you can experience the 'Service Wing at Work' when costumed interpreters will introduce the characters who lived and worked there.
