National Monument Record Centre

The National Monuments Record is English Heritage's public archive. Our collection of seven million photographs dates from the 1840s to the present day. It covers all parts of England and includes images of historic buildings, streetscapes, gardens and archaeological sites from the ground and from the air. We also hold a database of more than a quarter of a million archaeological monuments and excavations in England, as well as thousands of plans, drawings and reports.

The NMR is open to everyone. You are welcome to consult our records including our excellent reference library, by visiting the NMR public search rooms in Swindon.
