Costumed Mr Adams offers a treasure trove of curious facts and interesting anecdotes from the festive times gone by. You can also meet our Victorian Father Christmas, dressed in Traditional colourful costume, who will be reciting famous yuletide stories and poems. -
Belsay Hall, Castle & GardensSat 6 & Sun 7 DecThe Georgian Christmas season stretched from December 6th to January 6th and was a time of great celebration with visiting, gift and charity giving, balls, parties, masquerades, play acting, games and lots of food. Our costumed duo Hautbois get the festivities under way “with pomp and ceremony” in their performance of advent hymns from the 18th century. The programme sets the scene for a warming Christmas celebration Georgian style. Wrap up warm and come and shop for unique Christmas gifts and sample English Heritage’s own range of liqueurs and seasonal treats too.
