About the Building
In 1827, 44 Derngate was first identified as a house and became a vicarage in 1845.  The building was officially opened as Northampton School for Girls in 1921 until 1993 when the school relocated.  Following extensive refurbishment work, English Heritage took occupation of this Grade II listed building in May 2000. 

What we do here
The employees at Derngate are responsible for the historic environment for the whole of the East Midlands.  The departments which operate from the building are the Planning & Development team, the Advice & Grants team, the Estates team, and the Education and Outreach team.
