Landscape Managers

There are 5 Regional Landscape Managers covering 9 regions. They provide expert advice, supervision and support for landscape management and maintenance projects and contracts within the Region. They also champion the value of historic landscape sites both in their own right; as a setting to the built or buried heritage, or as part of the wider landscape and community. They promote the use of such historic sites for education, visitor enjoyment and nature conservation.

Their work includes:

• Providing high quality grounds maintenance advice and contract monitoring on English Heritage properties and other historic sites
• Managing the tree stock on English Heritage properties
• Managing the nature conservation interest on English Heritage properties
• Promoting sensitive, suitable and sustainable landscape management on historic sites; including grazing
• Advising on habitat and species conservation and management; bats and wall flora being particularly important
• Preparing landscape management plans
• Providing advice on landscape works such as scar repair, installation of fencing, turf repairs etc.

The Regional Landscape Managers work with private owners, project teams or consultants, local authorities, regional organisations, agencies, and local groups.
