Cathedral Repairs
Summary
2008 saw the final round of applications to the scheme funded by English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation towards the repair of Church of England and Roman Catholic cathedrals. Projects are now underway.
Cathedrals will remain eligible to apply for English Heritage grant. We have yet to decide which of our schemes would be best to handle applications from cathedrals and what the detailed processes should be. Whatever route we offer for cathedrals will need to take account of our national priorities for grant (see the link below).
Until these arrangements have been confirmed, we would only anticipate considering applications for fabric emergencies. In such cases, the cathedral authorities should make contact with the relevant English Heritage regional team. Applications may then be submitted via the Historic Buildings, Monuments and Designed Landscapes grant scheme.
