Suitable for the all ages you'll explore this fascinating property inside and out and will enjoy uncovering the past in this enlightening journey.

800 years ago life in York would not have been so very different from life today. York was a thriving international, multi-lingual city on good terms with its European neighbours. Buildings were being erected at an astonishing rate; traders were bringing goods from all over Europe, if not the world; and at the heart of the city stood the mighty edifice of York Castle - from which William the Conqueror had sought to bring order to this far flung part of England. Your guide will regale you with tales of how the tower has played such a key role in the control of northern England, surviving fire, flood and treason.
