What is an Overseas Visitor Pass?

The Overseas Visitor Pass attractions pass is a one-price entrance ticket to all English Heritage properties valid for either 7 or 14 consecutive days.

What is included?

FREE or reduced price entry to hundreds of action packed Events

FREE 280-page colour souvenir guidebook with maps including information on over 100 staffed sites and a further 300 free sites in the care of English Heritage.

I can’t possibly visit 100 attractions in one week. Why should I buy an Overseas Visitor Pass?

We don’t expect you to visit that many attractions. The Overseas Visitor Pass is incredible value for money and you can start making savings from as little as 2 or 3 visits!

How much will I save?

For example, the price of the guidebook plus the combined normal adult admission price to Dover Castle, 1066 Battle of Hastings Abbey & Battlefield, Walmer Castle & Gardens and The Home of Charles Darwin (Down House) - just four attractions in the South East - is £35.55. With a 7 day Overseas Visitor Pass you save £18.55!

If you want to calculate exactly how much the discount card will save you on your holiday simply add the normal entrance fee for all the properties you would like to visit and don’t forget to add the value of the guidebook, which sells at £7.95 in our shops.

Full list of normal entrance fees from 1 April 2008 - 31 March 2009

If I stay for less than 7 days – does it still make sense to buy the Pass?

Yes, the Pass pays for itself after approximately 3 visits so you can enjoy savings from the first or second day of your stay!

Who can buy the Pass?

The Pass is available for overseas visitors only. Visitors may be asked for proof of overseas residencies when visiting a property.

The Pass is available to both groups and individuals, however parties of 11 or more people paying together qualify for a group discount of 15% at all sites (10% at Stonehenge) which may work out cheaper.  We also strongly recommend that groups of 11 or more visitors book their visit in advance directly with the properties.

Do children need to get their own Pass?

The family pass is valid for 2 adults and up to 4 other family members under the age of 19 living at the same address.

Other than the family pass there is no reduced child pass. At our sites children under the age of 5 are admitted free of charge and children up to the age of 15 qualify for reduced entrance fees.

For how long is the Overseas Visitor Pass valid?

The English Heritage Overseas Visitor Pass is valid for a period of either 7 or 14 days.

How does my Overseas Visitor Pass get activated?

The Pass will be validated at the first property you visit and it can then be used for the following consecutive 7 or 14 days.

When are English Heritage properties open?

Most properties are open daily from 10am and many are open during the winter. Nearly all are closed 24-26 December and 1 January. The exact opening times are listed on our website as well as in the Members’ and Visitors’ Handbook, which is included free of charge in the Pass.

What documents do I need to bring along to collect the Overseas Visitor Pass?
