Carisbrooke Castle Carisbrooke Castle Carisbrooke Castle 

Crowning a hilltop south of Newport on the Isle of Wight, carisbrooke Castle has been the key to the island's security for more than nine centuries. In 1647 it became a prison for King Charles I. The story of his imprisonment is a feature of the new exhibition housed in the former guardroom, and is part of a £900,000 investment in the castle by English Heritage.
