On The Waterfront

On the Waterfront investigates how a port’s history shapes the future of today's 21st century waterfront. Set in Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture 2008 this major international
three-day conference brings together experts in culture, heritage and regeneration from around the world including China, France, India, Nigeria and USA.
Speakers include:
- Dr Simon Thurley, Chief Executive, English Heritage
- Franco Bianchini, Professor of Cultural Policy and Planning, Leeds University
- Dr Ray Bondin, Expert Advisor, former Assistant Secretary General to the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS)
- Professor Eddie Friel, Professor of Hospitality Training and Research, Niagara University
- Professor Eric Van Hooydonk, Professor of Maritime Law, University of Antwerp
- Sir Bob Scott, International Director, Liverpool Culture Company
- Dr Sheryllynne Haggerty, Lecturer, School of History, University of Nottingham
- Dr Alfred Zack-Williams, Professor of Sociology, University of Central Lancashire, Preston.

Situated on the waterfront, at the cutting edge where World Heritage values meet 21st century regeneration. Themes will include innovation, placemaking, governance, conservation, cultural and economic transformation.
