Summer Tours 2009

Apethorpe Hall - Courtyard © Smiths Gore Don’t miss this unique opportunity to join English Heritage for a tour of Apethorpe Hall, an exceptional grade I listed property set in a picturesque corner of Northamptonshire.

One of the finest Jacobean houses in the country, Apethorpe Hall is steeped in history and it has played host to Queen Elizabeth I, King James I and King Charles I. It boasts a remarkable suite of State Apartments originally created for Queen Elizabeth and remodelled for James I’s “more commodious entertainment…and princely recreation.” These rooms are among the best surviving examples of early 17th century Court taste and they provide a fascinating window on a rich period of English history.
