Traineeships

Stuart Site Visit Trainee on site visit in Herefordshire during Foundation Unit The English Heritage Historic Environment Traineeship (HET) Scheme is an exciting initiative launched in 2008 for historic environment practitioners.  Under the Scheme, up to ten two-year professional work placements are offered annually within our planning and development teams.  Trainees will be based in regional offices across the country and will gain experience in the application of professional conservation management skills in a planning and development context.

Trainees will receive high-quality training in historic environment management, enabling them to enhance both the depth of their specialist knowledge and the breadth of their inter-disciplinary skills.

It is not expected that they will be offered employment with English Heritage upon completion of their Traineeship.

Two Trainee intakes have now started work with English Heritage: the first seven joined the organisation in October 2008 and a further seven in October 2009. Those interested in applying for the Scheme next year should return to these pages in early 2010.
