Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings – SPAB publishes a list of historic buildings in need of repair, or a new use, which are for sale or lease.

SAVE Britain's Heritage – also publishes a register of buildings at risk which includes those outside the scope of English Heritage's register.

Scottish Civic Trust – maintains a buildings at risk register on behalf of Historic Scotland.

Ulster Architectural Heritage Society – produces a catalogue of buildings at risk in Northern Ireland.

Heritage Lottery Fund – the body which distributes a share of the income from the National Lottery to projects aimed at preserving and making accessible the nation's heritage.

Natural England – helping to protect man-made heritage too with its ‘Higher Level Stewardship’ scheme targeting themes 5-8 in addition to the ‘natural’ environment.

Association of Preservation Trusts – APT is a national charity representing building preservation trusts, charities established to save buildings of architectural or historic importance whose survival is threatened. It offers members practical advice and support on running a building preservation trust and undertaking building restoration projects.

Architectural Heritage Fund - a national charity which assists buildings preservation trusts and other charities with projects to repair and regenerate historic buildings by providing financial assistance and advice. Its Funds for Historic Buildings website is a comprehensive guide to funding for anyone seeking to rescue historic buildings.

Ancient Monuments Society – a statutory amenity society founded in 1924 ‘for the study and conservation of ancient monuments, historic buildings and fine old craftsmanship’.

Georgian Group – a statutory amenity society dedicated to preserving Georgian buildings and gardens, that has also been running a Let's abandon PVC! campaign about plastic windows.

Victorian Society – a statutory amenity society campaigning for Victorian and Edwardian architecture; its own campaigning guide may prove of use to you. 

Twentieth Century Society – a statutory amenity society existing to safeguard the heritage of architecture and design in Britain from 1914 onwards.

Garden History Society – a statutory amenity society dedicated to the conservation and study of historic designed gardens and landscapes.

Churches’ Conservation Trust – from modest beginnings in 1969 to its current standing as the leading charity in church conservation, in 2009 the Trust celebrates 40 years of saving historic churches at risk.

World Monuments Fund – leading non-governmental organisation for the protection of cultural heritage, WMF Britain is the largest affiliate office outside WMF’s headquarters in New York.

RESCUE – The British Archaeological Trust – a registered charity and an independent organisation committed to the protection, conservation, recording and interpretation of archaeological evidence - often the only evidence - of ALL our pasts.

Battlefields Trust – dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and presentation of battlefield sites as educational and heritage resources.

Association of Gardens Trusts – the national charity representing the 36 county gardens trusts in the care and conservation of the historic designed landscape.

Association of Small Historic Towns & Villages – ASHTAV works to unite amenity and civic societies, parish and town councils in small historic towns and villages throughout Britain to preserve the beauty, distinctiveness, social fabric and vitality of our historic settlements.

Prince’s Regeneration Trust – runs projects to enable under-used or redundant historic buildings to perform a new function, unlocking a regeneration of the wider community.

Save Our High Streets – a campaign by the Daily Mirror including a forceful 10-point plan. ‘Every town and city needs a vibrant high street as a vital hub of community life. Thriving local businesses and services are essential.’

Save our Pubs – a campaign by CAMRA, whose research shows that 84% of people believe a pub is as essential to village life as a shop or post office. The loss of pubs, whether in rural or urban areas, can undermine the local economy and community life.

Association of British Counties – 'Saving our shires' – is a society dedicated to promoting awareness of the continuing importance and stability of the 86 historic (or traditional) Counties of Great Britain, in the face of constantly evolving administrative boundaries.
