A partnership project with Coventry Carers Centre and The Herbert (Art Gallery & Museum) as part of the Kenilworth Castle Elizabethan Gardens Project, which includes archaeological excavation and the restoration of the Elizabethan garden.
Within cities and boroughs of the West Midlands conurbation the visual character of some streets is affected by the business, religious, cultural and day-to-day life of particular communities.
In 2007 English Heritage worked with the Sparkbrook African and Caribbean Women’s Development Initiative (SCAWDI) on an arts and research project to commemorate the 2007 Bicentennial of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade Act.
In 2006, English Heritage worked in collaboration with Foursight Theatre and Black Country Touring on a project to develop a community performance inspired by the stories of South Asian women from Sandwell.
In 2009 Outreach ran a small consultation project at Boscobel House and the Royal Oak, one of our EH sites in the West Midlands in partnership with the Properties Presentation department. The Interpretation team had got some funding to re-interpret the site, and were keen to do some consultation with potential visitors with a range of disabilities. The site’s current interpretation scheme has been in place for over 20 years.
English Heritage worked with SCORE on an arts and heritage project during 2007 and 2008 to produce an exhibition of artwork and photography inspired by Goodrich Castle through the seasons. The exhibition was first shown during Heritage Open Days at the castle and is touring Herefordshire throughout 2009.
English Heritage worked with Black Country Touring, Foursight Theatre and Sandwell Local Authority’s Community History and Archives Service and Museum Service on this project in 2008/09.
In 2007 English Heritage, Wyre Forest LAFS, Worcestershire Lifelinks and the Adult Learning Disability Services and Countryside Service at Worcestershire County Council worked in partnership on a natural heritage project at Witley Court and Gardens. This project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage.
'Witley Court Revisited' is an initiative addressing physical, intellectual and cultural access to Witley Court in Worcestershire, one of English Heritage’s most visited properties in the region.
