Conservation Projects

English Heritage undertakes a varied and huge range of conservation projects. This section is intended to illustrate some of the key high profile conservation projects.

  • The JW Evans Factory
    JW Evans, a family silverware and plate manufactory at the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, will now be restored so that future generations can understand and appreciate a vitally important element of our industrial past.
  • A view of Chiswick House from the south-west
    Decades of wear and tear and limited funding have taken their toll on the site. We now need a major cash injection to secure the future of Chiswick House and Gardens.
  • Apethorpe Hall
    An insight into our rescue project to save grade I listed Apethorpe Hall in Northamptonshire, one of the finest Jacobean houses in the country.
  • Silbury Hill (Avebury)
    In June 2000, a large hole suddenly appeared on the top of Silbury Hill, Europe's largest prehistoric artificial mound and a key feature of the Avebury World Heritage Area.
