The project aims to convert drawings prepared some years ago for the original survey of 64 small towns of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire so they are suitable for Internet dissemination through the Archaeology Data Service.
Following the discovery of five gold alloy objects during a metal detecting rally on the Lambourn Downs, Oxford Archaeology carried out an archaeological investigation in November 2004 in order to assess the provenance and context of the hoard.
Extensive housing development proposed for the centre of the village, close to St Mary’s church, was preceded by an archaeological evaluation (in 1986) and excavation of parts of the site (in 1990).

Excavation recorded three distinct phases of activity on a site whose existence was known from aerial photography: a prehistoric monument complex, a Romano-British cemetery and an early Anglo Saxon settlement.
