Dartmoor NMP

Dartmoor locationThe Dartmoor project was a forerunner to the National Mapping Programme (NMP) being one of the first large areas surveyed using aerial photographs.

The project was primarily intended to produce map overlays of the archaeology in the area of the Dartmoor National Park and c.75 sq.km. of south-west Dartmoor which lies outside the boundary of the national park.

The data helped advise English Heritage on the scheduling of monuments within the project area, with a secondary benefit of upgrading of the Devon SMR.
