Built in the early 20th century for the custodian of the Abbey, but using reclaimed abbey stone, this cottage is a reminder of the original medieval masons who built the Abbey. Their marks can still be seen on many of the blocks used in its construction. The cottage stands conveniently close to the entrance to the Abbey and a short walk from the River Rye.
Refectory Cottage is a two storey detached cottage. On the ground floor there is kitchen/ dining room, a sitting room with a wood burner, a utility room and cloakroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, plus a family bathroom with shower over bath.
The house has its own gardens, with garden furniture for outside dining.
Nestled into the corner of the Abbey ruins, Refectory Cottage provides the perfect base for enjoying the beautiful valley in the summer, come winter light the real fire and cosy up amid these breathtaking surroundings.
