Research Department Reports
The Research Department Reports Series was initiated in January 2006 and makes available the results of work undertaken by our Research Department. It also includes reports by contractors and others with whom we collaborate. It replaces the former Ancient Monuments Laboratory (AML) Reports Series, the Centre for Archaeology (CfA) Reports Series, the Archaeological Investigation Report Series, and the Architectural Investigation Reports Series.

Some of the reports are interim, making available the results of specialist investigations in advance of full publication. They are not usually subject to external refereeing, and their conclusions may sometimes have to be modified in the light of information not available at the time of the investigation.
Where no final project report is available, readers are advised to consult the author before citing these reports in any publication. Opinions expressed in Research Department Reports are those of the author(s) and are not necessarily those of English Heritage.
This database provides access to information about all Research Department Reports completed since January 2006, and all previous AML and CfA Reports (earlier reports by other Research Dept teams can be found listed on their individual English Heritage web pages). Some reports are available in full on-line, and it is hoped that an increasing number will be made available in this way. In the meantime, requests for hard copies can be made by emailing:

Please note that a charge will be made to cover the cost of copying and postage.
